X-ray and Ultrasound

(copied from old blog. entry dated: 6/26/2007 6:26:00 PM)

This is my good buddy, Douglas Lolley, from the Alabaster Church of God, who acquired this excellent X-ray machine and its own developer from the hospital where he works in Birmingham. Doug and Pam Lolley are finishing their nursing degree and training in order to regularly  come to Honduras to minister to the people.

And if that is not good enough, Doug was able to get an Ultrasound machine too !!!

Doug and me with Ultrasound machine.

I could not wait to include these pictures on our blog so that you could celebrate with us ! God is doing some incredible things, it feels like He is opening doors that no man can open or close.
This weekend we visited the Coaldale Church of God for the Sunday morning  service and the Alabaster Church of God for the evening service. We want to thank these two congregations for their generosity and hospitality
Lastly, I want to tell you all that when we were at the Alabaster service, Rachel made her singing debut . She was great, she sang "I give you me" . We have the CD in case you want to hear her performance.
We are in Fayetteville, TN for the next week or so. Drop us a line if you have any news or if you have questions.
God bless you all.

New Diesel Generator

(copied from old blog. entry dated: 6/23/2007 9:27:00 AM)

This is our NEW DIESEL GENERATOR. It is 30 KW of power, on a flat bed trailer. Thank you Bay Community Church and Pastor Jerry Taylor.

Just recently, we have received the following donated items: a defibrillator/cardiac monitor, a ventilator, 500 T-shirts for kids, multivitamins, just to mention a few things.

Our Diesel generator on our flat bed trailer.

We have only 4 more weeks of traveling here in the USA. It won't be long before we head back to Honduras, but before that, we have to get our donated items to Tampa. There, we will be loading a container so that it may be shipped to Honduras. Please, help us pray about these arrangements, it will take some coordination to get it all done.

Sweet Home Alabama

(copied from old blog. entry dated: 6/14/2007 8:02:00 PM)

We are near Loxley Alabama and guess what? we are having a great time. We realize that time is getting by- it has been two and a half months that we have been traveling these American roads. We are logging more than 1,000 miles per week and on some weekends we visit a church on Sunday morning and drive frantically to another for the evening service. This is our method to try to expand our support and expose as many people as possible to our work. Just recently we covered 4 States in less than 3 days!!!! We drove through Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Indiana. While we were in Memphis, TN at South Point Church we met Curt Middleton, a newspaper editor. Curt interviewed us via telephone recently and the Jungle Hospital's equipment needs will be made public in an informative newspaper column, so stay tuned!
We also visited with our dear friends, Preston and Inez Sapp from Fayette, TN. Preston just underwent by-pass surgery and within a few short days post-op is showing what he is made of. He is home recovering. I can think of no better person to nurse him to victory than his beautiful wife Inez. They are both such great examples of steadfastness and faithfulness, we are taking notice of this and trying to emulate it.

Wendy, Inez, Preston and Martin

Just a few days after Samuel celebrated his 15th birthday he began working his first real job.  He is working the next few weeks with Wendy's sister at a local gas station/convenience store.  He has worked so hard this week and we are so proud of him.  He is saving money for youth camp in July and for a computer of his own.  When he has a goal in sight he is unstoppable!  Rachel has now began her own business and will do odd jobs around the house for a thrifty price, these are sure signs that our babies are growing up.

We are looking forward to the rest of June's activities and in July we hope to be in Orlando Florida at my parents' place. There we plan on some vacation time. Perhaps then we will be shipping whatever is gathered for the hospital. There is a shipping company that leaves Tampa and will deliver in Honduras for a modest price.

God is so awesome, He is moving during the church services and even afterwords. He moves in the hearts of people in the US as they are made aware of the physical, social and spiritual needs of our Honduran brothers and sisters. Oftentimes we are approached by healthcare workers (like nurses and doctors) that would like to visit us there  to minister. If you are reading this blog and feel like you can help, (you don't have to be fluent in Spanish, we will help with translators) please feel free to contact us and ask questions. The people you will help are among Jesus' "... least of these." They are women and children, some are orphaned, most are poor.  Jesus said when you help these you will be helping Jesus Himself. We hear some say, "... we want to see Jesus", well you will see Him in the faces of these little ones. Others say, "... we want to minister unto the Lord", then minister unto these. The fields are truly white for harvest, His word does not return void in the Third World. In Honduras when you preach, with words or actions, people are added to God's Kingdom. We see the signs that Jesus mentions, "...when you lay hands on them, they will recover." Sometimes all we have to offer is a fervent prayer for a sick individual. We don't have much equipment just yet, all we have is two army cots and 3 plastic chairs, and our medicines are limited in scope and quantities. But God not only hears these prayers, He answers them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMUEL ! !

(copied from old blog. entry dated: 6/4/2007 11:46:00 PM)

It's hard to believe that my son is soon to be 15 years old! It seems that just yesterday we brought to our Gainesville (Florida) home,  a bundle of joy. He seemed so delicate. On our short drive home, I was so worried that someone would hit our little Honda hatchback and harm our newborn. He looked so tiny in his car seat. We still recall how difficult those first couple of months were. We had a tough time feeding him, changing his diapers, SLEEPING. Yet before we knew it, he was sitting behind the wheel of a sports car (which belongs to a dear friend of ours) looking like he belonged there...

We are so proud of him, he genuinely has a heart for God, honorable, honest, a soldier almost from the time we knew he could sharpen a machete on his own.
Samuel David Williams was born June 8th, 1992 at 8:50 a.m.
When he was 2 years old we moved to Honduras to work as missionaries. When he was 4 years old I thought he would be ready to have his own machete; one with a cool leather sheath. To put his mother at ease, I would run the blade side on a grinder so that he would not cut himself or anyone else within hacking distance. One day I found Samuel running a rock over the blade, in the similar manner that he saw Honduran workers use a file to sharper their machetes during work. He was so persistent with this practice that he eventually brought his blade to a dangerous cutting edge. So, to keep my son from harm, I would run the machete's blade over a grinder at night after he would be in bed. But in the morning Samuel would resume his sharpening technique for hours. In the evening I would visit the grinder. This went on for a while, until he caught me. It was funny how he argued his point and wondered why he was not allowed to own a lethal blade like the other kids.
Samuel would fashion cardboard hats, and on his belt he would carry plastic guns, knives, bows and arrows. He loved Barney the Dinosaur, Robin Hood, Tom and Jerry and all the cartoons like Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam.
He adapted well to city living while we were in Tegucigalpa, then on to La Ceiba for a couple of years, now that we are in a village setting, it's old news to him. He is becoming so good at assembling things and all kinds of cool gadgets. He is super smart, he is quickly becoming a better musician than I am. He picks up songs much quicker than I do. He speaks Spanish and English and has started to learn sign language.  He is now an authority on how to sharpen any blade...
I am so proud of him, he is so helpful all the time.
He aspires to enter military service after college. His ultimate wish is to become a fighter pilot. All I can say is that I've seen this young man grow up and I am convinced that God has a special calling on his life. Samuel will do great and mighty things for His Creator, and many will come to know Jesus through the marvelous works he will accomplish.
Happy 15th Birthday son.
